DeWayne McCulley is an engineer who almost died from a diabetic coma with a blood glucose of 1337 -- more than 1200 points above normal!
Fortunately, he was able to use his background in engineering and biochemistry to safely wean off the insulin and other drugs within 3.5 months. Needless to say, his doctors were shocked at his recovery.
After DeWayne returned to work, he joined the American Diabetes Association to help increase diabetes awareness and education. He ran 3 diabetic support groups and conducted diabetes education and training classes to hundreds of diabetics in the community and various churches.
In Corporate America, where DeWayne spent more than 20 years, he worked as a product trainer for several years. During that time, he developed training programs and conducted training classes for engineers and technicians.
DeWayne also worked as a volunteer math tutor for the National Urban League. At the time, the Urban League was in dire need of math tutors because there were so many students struggling with math. Because of DeWayne's ability to turn "E" students into "A" and "B" students, he ended up successfully teach up to 20 students at one time!
Because of those experiences in Corporate America and with the Urban League, DeWayne has been able to develop diabetes training classes and workshops for diabetics, health coaches, doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
With encouragement from his mother and daughter, and with so many requests from the community, DeWayne became an author and continues to help diabetics around the world via his diabetes management and education programs.
